It took Bobby Long to make fashion photographer Meg Urbani and me in-person friends. We had already tweeted for a while, but when Bobby’s show at Joe’s Pub was announced, we coordinated and bought tickets.
I feel like I have known Meg a long time because we’ve had lots of fun seeing bands and drinking in bars together. Even now that we’ve been friends for a little while, I remain in awe of her photography. It’s crazy to me that I know someone so talented in that art form.
OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest
@MegUrbani: Has a sense of humor, not afraid to be dorky, doesn’t take himself too seriously, a bit of a nerd, oh and great hair and a great smile. Also being British doesn’t hurt. Just saying 🙂
OneChicklette: Your chief characteristic (one word)
@MegUrbani: Driven
OneChicklette: What you appreciate most in your friends
@MegUrbani: They all have a great sense of humor, are great listeners, know that when we get together there will be no acting like ladies. There is a time & a place for that! They don’t judge me.
OneChicklette: Your idea of happiness
@MegUrbani: I have a few different versions: Going on random adventures with friends while drinking some wine… it’s what I did when in Paris and it was amazing.
Also, laying in my new bed with a book and my puggle snuggling.
OneChicklette: Your idea of misery
@MegUrbani: A job where I would have to do the same thing everyday with no creative fulfillment.
OneChicklette: Your favorite fictional character
@MegUrbani: Now this just isn’t fair! I have so many! And they always change, but the one that sticks with me.. I think I have to say Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars. He made me smile until my face hurt, then gutted me.
OneChicklette: Your favorite thing to eat, and also to drink
@MegUrbani: Java chip frap light (it’s my savior when I have migraines). A good draft beer. And I am going to have to say the duck & fig sausage from Rosamunde in Brooklyn. My mouth waters just thinking about it.
OneChicklette: Five tangible things you can’t live without
@MegUrbani:
- Elliott my puggle
- My Camera
- Ipad/ computer
- KitchenAid mixer
- Books!!
OneChicklette: What’s the number one item on your bucket list? (question via @SaraLang)
@MegUrbani: I want to direct a hip hop music video. And photograph Rob Pattinson. Perhaps we can combine these two things? Best idea ever!
@OneChicklette: Who do you know via social media that you’re dying to meet in real life? (this question came via @floridagirlindc)
@MegUrbani: There are a lot of people who I love, and haven’t met yet but I am going to have to say @mroshimbo.
She is one of the first people I really started talking to on twitter and she has become my book buddy over the years, and a good friend. She has sent me some amazing gifts (but that’s not why I love her), including a kick ass drawing she made me for my birthday, which I have hanging up by my desk. We have been talking on twitter & FB since 2008ish I think? Hopefully one day we can meet!
@OneChicklette: What is your most under appreciated tweet? (this question came via @MikeKelton)
@MegUrbani: I tend to have a bad case of tweeting without thinking, so I say a whole bunch of things I probably shouldn’t, I like to keep things interesting. You would think having to type out a thought would filter me but nope. So I am going to have to say a lot of my tweets are underappreciated because I probably offend many.
OneChicklette: A question I should ask the next participant
@MegUrbani: What is your guilty pleasure? Just come on out with it!
OneChicklette: Random shout out
@MegUrbani: Person: Jenny Lewis, because I just love her, and she smiled at me in Brooklyn a few weeks ago and it was magical.

Finally I want to give a shout out to West River Cycles, my best friend’s bike shop in Long Beach California. Check it out!
What a lovely woman.
I’m glad to know her!
