Moving is a great opportunity to take stock of one’s possessions. To clean house. To scale back and pare down.
Blah, blah. Whatever. Go read Real Simple if you want helpful hints about moving.
I’m the idiot who brought all my junk with me. I didn’t really do much reduction of stuff. It’s all with me here in the new place, waiting to be dealt with.
The point of this post? If you see me on the street, or if I tweet about shopping online for any of these things, you have my permission to punch me in the face:
- Shoes
- Boots
- Shower gel
- Cetaphil (basically don’t let me go to CVS for a year)
- Books
- Electrical cords of any kind
- Coats
- Hair tools
- Wine
- Booze (my roommate and I have joked that we need to have the reverse of a Build the Bar party)
- Any kind of kitchen gear
I just packed up my shit too, it is amazing how much we accumulate!
Meanwhile there are a few things I can’t find post-move. My hope is this weekend I will figure it all out.
I have a theory that every time you move, something vanishes. When I was a kid my bike went into the moving van and when it was unpacked the seat was gone! How? Why? I have no idea!
That’s crazy. I’d be so mad.
Well, at least it’s all in your new place. Unpack the liquor first and the rest will go smoothly – Ha!
Like girlseule, I lose something every time.
Really, the boots and coats…not too bad. You really do seem to have a bath & body hoarding issue, lol!
Happy in your new place is coming soon 😀
🙂
