One of the things I love most about life in NYC is the sense that I can never completely know it. There will always be secrets to uncover. Something new replacing something old. Mysteries just down the block.
And here’s one: a beach of sorts right in my neighborhood.
OK, so it’s not South Beach, or even the Rockaways. But I had no idea you could get so close to the shore of the East River.
Who knows: maybe in a few more years, we’ll really want to.
Love the sound of the water lapping. I was brought up in a seacost city – Halifax -and I miss the ocean.
I’ll bet
Similarly, the street we live on was previously unknown to myself or my husband, and even my in-laws. It’s a quiet dead-end street with land where you wouldn’t know there’s any. This is our community, my kids will be third generation graduates at the same high school we attended. I lived less than 4 miles from this house for over 10 years, my husband grew up within a mile of it, and my father-in-law has never lived outside this burb. Still, when we saw the listing, we were all like, “There’s a street back there?!”
My parents knew, because civil engineers, but most of the time, when we tell delivery or handy people where we are, they had no idea there was such a place!
I’m glad you found a new treasure! 🙂
So fun to find something new!
