I found wallpaper and yes, it is pink

I want to wallpaper my bedroom.

Translation: I want to pay someone, ideally a professional, to wallpaper my bedroom. Let’s be clear about that.

I found this rich pink wallpaper that I think is gorgeous.

I had a sample sent to me and loved it.

But!

I finally bought it: a sofa table

I have been trying to find The Perfect Sofa Table for a long time. Years.

What a total pain in the a$$, y’all.

I had my heart set on working with RecycledBrooklyn.

They make beautiful furniture from reclaimed wood. I wanted to support local business while also avoiding shipping costs. Alas, they were unresponsive, something that is apparently typical.

I eventually found what I wanted on Etsy via Happy. Home. Austin.

And it’s here! I love it.

I am nesting

I’m nesting, but I am not pregnant. Got that? Blame January.

The only thing I’m expecting is a sofa table which I purchased after two years of looking and which has just shipped from Austin. CANNOT WAIT.

But now I want everything. I want my apartment to look nice. Complete.

Recently my focus is on the walls. I had to take down the Dubois mirrors which were propped-versus-hung in my bedroom. More pics from my apartment here and here and here.

I want a new (d)rug

Apologies to Huey Lewis.

As part of my ongoing effort to make a house an apartment a home, I bought a new rug (no drugs) via Joss & Main.

The rug I presently have in my bedroom used to be my living room rug in DC. It’s looking shabby. No amount of Resolve and vacuuming can make it look OK now.

My new rug is much brighter. Here is a picture of it in a room that is not mine. Continue reading

The evil Crate and Barrel Dubois mirror

I coveted a set of these Crate & Barrel mirrors for ages. Based on the price and my desire to buy at least three, I hunted high and low for a cheaper substitute to no avail.

Via imbusyprocrastinating.com

Eventually I bought three, thinking I’d trade up to six or even nine over time.

Via crateandbarrel.com

When I got them home and opened the boxes, I was shocked to see that two of the three had just holes for hanging whereas the third had what appeared to be half of a hanging contraption.

Huh. Continue reading

My need for STUFF

Maybe it’s the appearance of a modest bonus. Perhaps it’s crossing “pay taxes” off my two do list. Whatever the cause, I suddenly have shopping on my brain.

At the top of my list? Two specific pieces of furniture. And given my [past?] tendency to buy every damn thing for my apartment from Crate & Barrel, I’m looking for unique things. Continue reading

Buying and selling furniture

I’m selling Crate and Barrel bookcases and a dining set for four to make room for new things.

Like this cafe dining table for my wide kitchen.

I also need to buy a microwave because my rental has a Miele and its 17 modes don’t include “microwave.” Sabbath mode, yes. Microwave, no. $%^$%@!!!

And I thought my apartment search was thorough.
