I told you I had dined in two great restaurants here. In reality, there were more – lots more – but three of the most memorable of late are these: Market Table, Antica Pesa (more on this one soon) and Lilia.
There is a lot of hype about Lilia. Chef/owner Missy Robbins was reportedly President Obama’s favorite chef based on her work at Spiaggia* in Chicago. She could have opened her first restaurant virtually anywhere but chose my neighborhood. Lucky us.
I had dinner at Lucali the other night. It’s a special little restaurant in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
Lucali serves pizza and calzones. That’s it. Take your pick.
Lucali is BYOB and cash only. Fortunately a member of our party brought a really enjoyable homemade red wine.
For dessert, we had calzones filled with sweet ricotta, drizzled with nutella and dotted with sea salt.
Miami folks, Lucali recently opened a location there too.

I could have eaten about twenty more of them too. When I asked my dining companions if they wanted a taste, I was just being polite. They said yes.
That’s several thousand dollars worth of truffles pictured above. I assume they’re kept under lock and key.

While in Northern California, my friend C and I went to Bottega in Yountville for dinner. It had been on her ‘to try’ list for a while and I was happy to play along. C likes good food. I trust her implicitly.
