Summer of Suck 2.0 – Part Six: A Horrible Digression

So there I was, Marc Jacobs in one hand, orange urine collection jug in the other, when I decided some Kitten Therapy was in order.

Beyond the fact that I was feeling low in spite of efforts to shop my way out of my bad mood, it was hot as hell. PS9 is air-conditioned as well as on my way home from the spot where Uber Pool dropped me off. Stopping in for a visit seemed like an easy call. Continue reading

And now for something cute

Hi. It’s me again. Your friend, Debbie Downer.

At some point, I’ll post about the why and the what. But for now I thought I would share some pics and vids that were really popular on Twitter.

Purrito

Yep, it’s more kitten therapy. He, named Tupac by the lovely staff of PS9 Pets, is a street rescue of approximately four weeks. Continue reading

Clever post title TK

h/t to Jennifer Mendelsohn

I’ve been trying to draft some clever, thought-provoking posts. A post to make you laugh perhaps. Something that sums up the year in a witty way. And nothing to do with grief – for once.

But, nope! It just hasn’t happened.

I have lots of thoughts and, as usual, a desire to share them, but right now, everything in my head is a bit…scattered. Plus if I take the time to think, you might end up with more sad posts like this.

Part of it has been my recent travel schedule–Sacramento, San Francisco/Walnut Creek, LA, DC and the Scranton area for Thanksgiving. Fortunately none of my Thanksgiving fears came true. Continue reading

Fall, please be kind

After my terrible summer, I have been hoping for an easier fall. So far, that hasn’t happened.

On Saturday after a workout, I went to visit my favorite kittens. PS9 was hopping. A nice couple was in the process of adopting this little furball.

I was holding my favorite kitten. Officially she is nameless, but I call her Kerry Washington because she’s black, beautiful and made me work for her affection. I have not met actress Kerry Washington, but I’m guessing her affection needs to be earned too. I dream of keeping Kerry – the kitten, not the actress. Continue reading

Kitten therapy

I take a deep breath as I open the door.

“Will they think I’m a creep?” I worry. Jeez, I hope not.

Because I’m going in anyway.

“Careful,” I think. “Don’t push the door too hard or too wide.”

I can see that today there are a few little ones running free, drinking from a fountain and playing with toys.

Here I am again at PS9 Pets, a store in my neighborhood that also finds homes for cats and kittens.

I’m not stopping in to get a pet. Or to buy supplies for a pet I don’t have.

I’m just here to look at sleeping kittens and playing kittens. I’ll take pics of the lil cuties and show them to my friends who might take one home.

And if someone suggests it, YES I WILL CUDDLE A KITTEN. Because this is my therapy: kitten therapy.

I’ve been really sad of late, and for obvious, real reasons. I miss my dad.

Right now, the sweetness of a kitten trumps my allergies. And it’s preferable to crying.

If anyone from PS9 reads this, thank you for tolerating me.
