Twitter Spotlight: Joanne Ross

Joanne is one of the nicest people I’ve never met. If you’re on Twitter, you know what I mean. Twitter friends are real.

Joanne, a lover of corgis and the Detroit Pistons, and I first connected thanks to NBA Twitter, but now she feels like a real life buddy.

One day soon, I hope, we’ll get to meet. For now, we’ll make do with a Twitter Spotlight.

OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest

@JoannePistonFan: Dog lover, sports fan, and I love when people are able to laugh at themselves when something goes wrong.

OneChicklette: Your chief characteristic (one word)

@JoannePistonFan: Pragmatic.

OneChicklette: What you appreciate most in your friends

@JoannePistonFan: My friends allow me to feel okay being myself–my weird, WEIRD self–, and will listen to anything from a serious rant to me giggling like a fool over an episode of Archer.

OneChicklette: Your idea of happiness

@JoannePistonFan: I love the thought of an evening with my husband and dog, good food, and watching a Detroit sports team win.

OneChicklette: Your idea of misery

@JoannePistonFan: Being stuck in traffic.

OneChicklette: Your favorite fictional character

@JoannePistonFan: Arya Stark from Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series.

OneChicklette: Your favorite thing to eat, and also to drink

@JoannePistonFan: Fajitas and coffee, but not together. I would prefer a margarita with fajitas.

OneChicklette: Five tangible things you can’t live without

@JoannePistonFan: My iPhone, lip balm, DVR, coffeemaker, and does my dog count as a thing? It feels bizarre calling my dog a thing, so I will add my Pistons hat.

Twitter Spotlight: Rod Benson

Who is Rod Benson aka @boomtho? Only the most popular pro basketball player in Korea. And an entrepreneur, graphic designer and writer too. Remember when I told you about Rod’s hilarious blog?

The dude is smart – he graduated from Berkeley. A 2012 Cal alumni publication article about Rod quoted one of his friends thusly:

“He was kind of a nerd,” says Renee Pesiri ‘07, a Berkeley law student who became friends with Benson during freshman year. “He taught me the Dewey decimal system.”

Too much Rod Benson? Never.

@BoomTho: Eyes. Smile. A bit of contentiousness that makes me have to work to prove a point.

OneChicklette: Your chief characteristic (one word)

Twitter Spotlight: Rey Moralde

If you follow @TheNoLookPass (aka Rey aka Rey-Rey), you get what you expect. Sort of.

While there’s lots of basketball given that Rey is a basketball blogger, you might also find him live-tweeting Twilight or musing on his love for the Spice Girls or any number of other subjects.

Rey, you’re a versatile man!

Here we go…

OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest

@TheNoLookPass: Sense of humor. I love laughing and I love to make people laugh (even though I’m probably one of the corniest guys you’ll ever know). I want her to be easygoing. Not too much of a partier but knows how to do it. And I hope she’s able to put up with me. Basically, the girl next door.

Oh, duh. She has to be hot, too. What can I say? I’m shallow.

OneChicklette: Your chief characteristic (one word)

@TheNoLookPass: Friendly!

OneChicklette: What you appreciate most in your friends

@TheNoLookPass: Just the fact that they listen when I tend to ramble on and on.

OneChicklette: Your idea of happiness

@TheNoLookPass: Being with people that are having a great time on whatever we’re doing. We could be on the dinner table laughing about our stupid jokes about pop music, doing karaoke, or sitting around just exchanging stories.

OneChicklette: Your idea of misery

@TheNoLookPass: Sick and being alone.

Twitter spotlight: Holly MacKenzie

I have met incredible people through Twitter and I have decided I need to share them — lucky you! First up, the lovely and talented Holly MacKenzie aka @stackmack.
OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest
StackMack: Conversation, kindness and passion. If there can’t be some serious word play, I lose interest quickly regardless of the other things they’re bringing to the table. It’s cliche to say, but seeing how they treat the people around them. From the way they talk about their friends, to how they interact with taxi drivers, servers and strangers on the street, kindness owns my soul. People who are passionate about what they do or are trying to do make me swoon. Whatever you love, chase it. I love those people. I also love forearms and calves. Weird, I know.
OneChicklette: Your chief characteristic (one word!)

I went to Orlando

It was a work trip, but I stayed at a Disney property. I saw tall people.

I didn’t go to the parks. My hair was awful. The two statements are unrelated.

I went to a party, and met Craig Sager. There’s another pic in which I didn’t cut off his head, but I like this one better.

On my way out of Orlando, I got barked at by a three year old boy in the airport, who subsequently licked the carpet under my feet. There’s no photo of that. I was too shocked and horrified. His parents continued playing with an iPad (Dad) and reading US Weekly (Mom). I wonder if Rick Santorum objects to this very effective form of birth control.
