My roommate met Brandon from Humans of New York

My roommate Katie recently spotted Brandon Stanton, creator of Humans of New York in Chelsea. I was excited for her, impressed that she spotted him and a little jealous to boot.

“Did you ever see the pics from the time you spotted the Humans of New York guy?” I asked my roommate Katie.

“Uh, yeah. It was the one with the young girl coming to New York to meet the 55 year old guy she met on a BDSM site,” Katie said.

“Noooooo!”

Alas, yes.

“I interrupted an awkward conversation,” she added. “Brandon was awesome and we hugged.”

I love HONY, as it’s known, for its ability to remind me of the breadth of the human experience. And I’m not alone: HONY has 12.5 million Facebook fans, 2.7 million Instagram followers and two successful books (with another one on its way this fall).

But I do wish Katie had been able to meet Brandon on this day instead!

Twitter Spotlight: Prad Patel

I had already done a first draft of Londoner Prad Patel‘s Twitter Spotlight when something really cool happened: I got sick in London.

OK, that’s not the cool part (at all). The cool part is that Prad did a very sweet thing and sent me a care package at my London hotel.

Care package

Prad’s profile was already one of my favorites since I started featuring people I enjoy following on Twitter in that his answers were thorough and interesting and really made me think.

Twitter friends are real and don’t you doubt it.

OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest

@pradip: A sense of adventure – I’m great at causing trouble or doing things which are risky, or which most people would blink twice at. Being around someone who doesn’t have that fear and is happy to hold my hand as I take a plunge is definitely what ticks my boxes.

Twitter Spotlight: Meg Urbani

It took Bobby Long to make fashion photographer Meg Urbani and me in-person friends. We had already tweeted for a while, but when Bobby’s show at Joe’s Pub was announced, we coordinated and bought tickets.

I feel like I have known Meg a long time because we’ve had lots of fun seeing bands and drinking in bars together. Even now that we’ve been friends for a little while, I remain in awe of her photography. It’s crazy to me that I know someone so talented in that art form.

OneChicklette: Your favorite qualities in a love interest

@MegUrbani: Has a sense of humor, not afraid to be dorky, doesn’t take himself too seriously, a bit of a nerd, oh and great hair and a great smile. Also being British doesn’t hurt. Just saying 🙂

The funniest thing I have seen all week

I get a gazillion emails per week from Fab.com. That may be an exaggeration but not by much.

A project I work on periodically does Fab sales so I feel a need to keep up with what they’re selling.

When I received an email about Male Landscapes and Andy Warhol, I had a giggling fit. I couldn’t tell you why.

The pictures made matters worse:

Maybe it was thoughts of modern manscaping and wondering what ol’ Andy would think of that trend if he were alive today.

The sale ends on June 22 so as a parting gift, I’m giving you some NSFW screen shots below just in case you don’t check out the sale in time.

Last warning: wieners involved.
