What has my slacker self been doing?

Hi friends,

This flu really knocked me for a loop – and I haven’t felt at all creative about writing. There are MANY unfinished posts hanging out in the Drafts section waiting to be ready. But rather than bore you with something potentially silly or rush the process, I have stayed rather quiet. Hope you understand.

Here’s what I’ve been doing recently.

Reading this book in preparation for seeing the much-lauded Hamilton on Broadway with Ms. Moxie. Before you get too excited, we’re going in NOVEMBER. Waiting is hard. Particularly given that my friends are always posting about it.

I went to LA, ate salads and gained three pounds

Mexican weekend

In advance of a work trip to Mexico (again), I went for dinner with my friends Amanda and Adrienne. I figured I’d be home by 11 pm or so.

Spoiler: that didn’t happen.

Amanda arrived first and snagged a seat at the bar, texting me to say Mercadito is a “shoebox.” And she was right. To get to the bathroom, you will squeeze past the bar. But you’ll manage. You may even make a new friend.

What Mercadito lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. And alcohol. And personality.

I went to Guadalajara

Last week I went to Guadalajara in the southwestern part of Mexico on business. It was lovely to feel sunshine and 75 degrees.

If you love tequila or want to learn more about it, I highly recommend a visit to Tequila, Amatitán and surrounding towns.

Drinking tequila at Casa Herradura during a workday didn’t suck. My favorite drink was definitely the tamarind margarita with a spice rim.

Nor did eating delicious foods including tacos, fideo, a spectacular steak, amazing queso, and a breakfast gordita which we ate in the middle of an agave field.

I was glad I packed flat boots as were my travel companions. The cobblestones required careful walking, particularly for a klutz like me.
