What has my slacker self been doing?

Hi friends,

This flu really knocked me for a loop – and I haven’t felt at all creative about writing. There are MANY unfinished posts hanging out in the Drafts section waiting to be ready. But rather than bore you with something potentially silly or rush the process, I have stayed rather quiet. Hope you understand.

Here’s what I’ve been doing recently.

Reading this book in preparation for seeing the much-lauded Hamilton on Broadway with Ms. Moxie. Before you get too excited, we’re going in NOVEMBER. Waiting is hard. Particularly given that my friends are always posting about it.

How was your weekend?

My weekend started a little early with Arte Agave on Thursday.

Arte Agave

It was awesome! I hope those of you who attended had as much fun as my friends and me, enjoying margarita popsicles, terrific live music and tiny hats. Continue reading

Tequila anyone?

Update: Arte Agave is happening Friday, June 10, 2016. Tickets (with my discount code ‘Jen’) are available here.

You know I have come to enjoy tequila. But not how.

Let’s just say it didn’t come naturally.

Until approximately five years ago, I avoided tequila completely. Why? My last experience with the spirit had come at the hand of evil, older sorority sisters. It was bad.

For years, I avoided tequila. One night, though, I was faced with a difficult choice. Continue reading

I went to Guadalajara

Last week I went to Guadalajara in the southwestern part of Mexico on business. It was lovely to feel sunshine and 75 degrees.

If you love tequila or want to learn more about it, I highly recommend a visit to Tequila, Amatitán and surrounding towns.

Drinking tequila at Casa Herradura during a workday didn’t suck. My favorite drink was definitely the tamarind margarita with a spice rim.

Nor did eating delicious foods including tacos, fideo, a spectacular steak, amazing queso, and a breakfast gordita which we ate in the middle of an agave field.

I was glad I packed flat boots as were my travel companions. The cobblestones required careful walking, particularly for a klutz like me.

Twitter Spotlight: Isaiah Mustafa

You know him as Old Spice Guy or from his film and TV roles, but there’s a lot more to Isaiah Mustafa.

Physically? This is a gorgeous man. But the way his heart comes through in his words, that’s what makes him spectacular in my opinion.

Here’s Isaiah in the Twitter Spotlight.

@isaiahmustafa: I have a very diverse group of friends. I like differences in people. I’m very lucky to know some interesting folk. The one thru-line in my relationships with people I call friends is that we accept each other for who we are without judgement.

@isaiahmustafa: Happiness is a warm festive night with family, good food, good music and good people.

@isaiahmustafa: Misery for me is hatred and ignorance.
